Working Group Panels and Meetings at the Summit

Over the course of the European Communication Summit in Brussels, most of the EACD Working Groups took a chance to arrange either a meeting or a Panel Discussion for the benefit of EACD Members interested in those particular fields. The Working Group events were well-attended by participants with an interest in such topics, and also featured an exploratory meeting for a potential new Working Group on Corporate Social Responsibility, which investigated the need for the group.

On the eve of the Summit, the Working Group ‘EU Institutions’ organised a Workshop in the European Parliament, based on ‘The European Elections and Implications for the New Policy Agenda’. Hosted by Helmut Weixler, head of the Working Group, the event featured a post-election analysis, and then a Panel Discussion on whether the new Parliament will head in a new direction, or if we could expect more of the same.

On the first day of the Summit, the Working Group ‘Finance’ organised a Panel Discussion, featuring six notable guests on the topic of ‘Restoring Reputation and Trust in the Banking Sector during and after the current Financial Turmoil’. The event was hosted by Miriam Roemers, head of the Working Group ‘Finance’, and the moderation was chaired by Prof. André Farber from the Université Libre de Bruxelles.

Working Lunches were held by the Working Groups ‘Internal Communications’ (hosted by Working Group head Katharina Auer) and ‘Evaluation’ (hosted by Working Group head Louis de Schorlemer). The Working Group ‘Finance and Inusrance’ also had a lunch Meeting to discuss how well the earlier Panel Discussion went, and plans for the future.

On the Friday, the Working Group ‘Energy’ presented a discussion on ‘Communicating the Nordic Power Market: Transparency as a key to success’, featuring two expert speakers from the field. Working Group ‘Education’ held a Working Lunch (hosted by Working Group head David Willows) and a Working Lunch was held by a provisional Working Group on Corporate Social Responsibilty, which was hosted by Yannis Freris, who suggested the creation of such a Working Group and led a discussion on the role of a potential Working Group in that field.
