The EACD welcomes its 1400th member
The European Association of Communication Directors (EACD), the leading Europe-wide network for in-house communication professionals, has welcomed its 1,400th member. Melissa Fleming, Head of Communications Service and Spokesperson for the High Commissioner at the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees recently became the member who pushed the EACD past this milestone.
When asked why she joined the EACD, she answered: "What better way to develop in this profession than to learn from colleagues in the same speedboat! I have also had excellent learning and networking experiences from my memberships in the International Public Information Director’s Roundtable and the UN Communications Group."
Founded on November 8, 2006 by about 100 founding members from 23 different countries, the association has since then extended its network of communicators from companies, institutions, associations and NGOs to more than 40 countries.
The EACD is staying true to the aims expressed at its foundation meeting, promoting the professionalisation of communications across cultural, political and linguistic barriers with its regional debates, which are organised by Regional Coordinators throughout Europe, and preparing for its annual highlight, the European Communication Summit in Brussels, on July 1st and 2nd, which is the biggest gathering of its kind in Europe.
