EACD Working Group: Education
September 2009
Your Working Group recently met at the European Communication Summit. What have you and the other members taken from the event/meeting?
This year's Summit was again an opportunity for communication professionals working in the education sector to meet one another and consider the relevance and helpfulness of the EACD for their work in school, college and university settings. It also provided an opportunity to consider some of the pedagogical issues that lie at the heart of so many of today's communication tasks.
Can you sum up the Working Group's activities so far?
To date, the Education Working Group has tended towards offering a networking and conversation point for EACD members involved in the education sector. In August 2009, the EACD was pleased - under the banner of this group - to cooperate with the Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE), running a workshop entitled 'Future Trends in European Communications' at the CASE Europe Annual Conference in Liverpool, UK.
Are there any trends on the horizon in your field that will have a big impact on the members of your group?
Following the EACD-CASE event (see above), at which a 'conversation' was begun, a number of important issues were identified as important issues on the horizon. These are to be published in a forthcoming issue of the Communication Director.
