The EACD Working Group Risk and Crisis Communications will meet on occasion of the EACD Kick-Off Day on June 24th 2015, the day before the European Communication Summit.
The meeting will take place at the Square from 15.00 to 17.30. The topic of the event will be "Science-based" versus "Precautionary principle".
Coordinator Philip Springuel invites you to join this working group meeting, in which invited speaker David Zaruk will help us make sense of the intertwining principles and emotions that contribute to risk assessment and decision making.
We are delighted to announce our speaker: David Zaruk, Risk Governance Analyst David is a Risk Governance Analyst at Risk Perception Management and an Assistant Professor Adjunct in Communications at Université Saint-Louis in Brussels. He sits on the European Commission Horizon 2020 Ethics Panel for Research, and frequently serves as an expert, rapporteur, ethics adviser or evaluator for various European-funded research projects. David worked twelve years in chemicals issue management for Solvay, Cefic and Burson-Marsteller. In 2001, he was one of the founders of GreenFacts, a science-based risk communications tool for non-specialists. He also writes a blog under the pseudonym: The Risk-Monger, assessing the European use of evidence in environmental-health policy management.
