The workshop will highlight the topic of "From Translation to Transcreation”

The session is aimed at anyone working in international marketing, PR and communications or multi-territory research and will show the differences between Translation, Localisation and Transcreation and the importance of understanding cultural differences and nuances.

How to manage a successful localisation project From understanding source materials and content formats (Word documents, InDesign files, HTML), to providing subtitles, voice overs and audio dubbing for video, this section will cover the entire process from Briefing, Proof-reading, and Revision Cycles to Reviews and Delivery. We will also covering considerations needed for imagery in different cultures and technical elements of Translation Management, Translation Memories and Bilingual Tables along with their respective advantages. Other areas we will focus on include: Back translation, considerations for Desktop Publishing and Website Translation, and Quality & Standards.
Transcreation Task To finish off the session, we’ll break the attendees up into teams to have a go at transcreating an existing campaign advert
Maira Eckert Originally from Brazil and having studied Economics and Political Sciences at Lenoir-Rhyne University in North Carolina, USA, Maira moved to the UK to study International Relations for her Master’s degree at Warwick University. She is now an Account Manager at Conversis, not only focusing on developing sales strategies and pursuing new clients, but building good relationships with current ones and assisting clients through their projects. Passionate about languages and cultures, Maira enjoys representing Conversis and hosting workshops about different translation projects.
Russell Goldsmith Russell spent 16 years as Digital & Social Media Director of international broadcast specialists markettiers before becoming an independent consultant and a trainer for the PRCA. He joined Conversis in 2015 as the company’s Corporate Director. Russell is a regular presenter at conferences and a judge for many industry awards. He has written and contributed to numerous publications including a recent chapter in the CIPR’s ‘Share This Too’ book. He also produces and presents ‘the csuite podcasts’ – a series of interviews with top industry executives discussing the many aspects of communications across all industries, which is available on iTunes and soundcloud.
Glen Richardson is an e-commerce leader, global speaker and Chief Marketing Officer of Fruugo.com; a global shopping marketplace. Fruugo were dubbed by Retail Week as an “eBay in the making” and are growing 200% + year-on-year. Investors include business leaders such as Lord Stuart Rose. Glen is an entrepreneur with experience across many industries. Digital products successfully developed include news distribution, CMS platforms, customer acquisition programs, consumer retention, analytics and video streaming technologies. Glen is also an awards judge, advisor and thought leader.
