Each year the EACD presents the Young Communicator of the Year Award in a gala ceremony held at the European Communication Summit.

Shortlist 2017

We are happy to announce the shortlist for the European Communication Award 2017. Nominees will pitch their projects at this year's European Communication Summit in Brussels and the winners will be honoured with the European Communication Award.

Vodafone - ReConnect: The world's largest recruitment drive for career-break women

In 2015, Vodafone launched a pioneering global maternity policy. In 2017 in a further bid to increase women in management positions, Vodafone launched ReConnect, a global recruitment programme across 26 countries, to get female managers back into the workplace from a pool of 96-million skilled career-break women. The launch reached 210 million through earned media with 2,400 applications in 5 days.



Tata Consultancy Services - #DigitalEmpowers TCS Davos Postcard - Planet

We wanted to create a digital campaign that would raise awareness on the key global issues being raised at WEF 2017, as well as provide a meaningful contribution to finding solutions and stimulating new ideas and engagement around the world. Website now appears at top of Google search for "Digital Empowers" listing for 113k unique page visits. On Twitter we achieved 13.5m hashtag impressions.



Shell Netherlands - Full speed ahead! Accelerating the Energy Transition in The Netherlands

Shell NL developed a bold strategy focused on shared purpose: The acceleration of the energy transition to meet climate goals and boost economic opportunities for NL.
Shell revamped all its channels and worked with 80 societal partners to realise this purpose. It initiated an unexpected Energy Transition Coalition and launched a successful program to promote science education and entrepreneurship.

Anchor - Standing Up 4 Sitting Down

SU4SD was inspired by insight from older people and distilled complex issues around high street accessibility into a simple message - the need to maintain seating. It drove a measurable increase in brand awareness, prompted a national conversation about the need to value older people with Anchor at the heart - and persuaded retailers, politicians and media to stand up for sitting down.



Wildfowl & Wetlands Trust - Flight of the Swans

The migratory Bewick's swan is in drastic decline. Each year almost 1 in 5 don't complete their migration. Conservation efforts have failed due to general lack of awareness the species exists, let alone that it is in serious trouble. Last autumn Sacha Dench flew with the swans from Arctic Russia to the UK, to speak to communities, unearth issues, and generate widespread enthusiasm to save them.



International Charity Fund "Tabletochki" - Access to Intensive Care Units

“Access to Intensive Care Units” has drawn attention of the Ukrainian society to a problem of lack of access to intensive care in hospitals all over the country and raised the awareness of Ukrainian citizens about their rights. Now Ukrainian intensive care units are open and friendly for visitors, and free access is ensured at the legislative level.

- How United Biscuits’ Carlisle factory overcame the devastation of Storm Desmond and ended the biscuit crisis -

Crisis management creating reactive & proactive communications globally, for media & employees following flooding at factory producing the nations favourite biscuits. When production resumed we harnessed media interest to announce ‘Biscuits are Back’ with live broadcast exclusives with ITV and BBC & press engagement driving further coverage including 28 radio interviews with Manufacturing Director.

The Red Cross Experience aims to bring the visitor closer to Red Cross. Our biggest challenge is to bring our audience to see the world through the eyes of our beneficiaries. Every day, people are being exposed to thousands of messages and that is why we need to find new ways to communicate. The Red Cross experience is a sensuous experience where you can see, feel, hear and even taste how we work.

- Climathon 2017 -

Climathon is a global 24-hour climate hackathon which took place simultaneously in major cities around the world on 28 October 2016. Citizens around the world were able to take direct climate action by coming up with innovative solutions to local climate challenges. In 2016, 59 cities, in 6 continents took part in the 24-hour challenge, creating over 1400 ideas and reaching 16.8 million worldwide.
